Monitoring & Evaluation

Tracking Progress, Driving Transformation. The central Monitoring & Evaluation hub for the implementation of the Framework for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization in Africa (F-SAMA). We turn data into actionable policy for a food-secure Africa.

Sustainable mechanization pillars

Aligning with the F-SAMA Continental Vision

Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (SAM) is a cornerstone of the Malabo Declaration and Agenda 2063. This portal serves as the primary tracking mechanism for the F-SAMA. Our M&E system goes beyond simple metrics. We track the health of the entire mechanization ecosystem across the 10 Priority Elements of the framework, ensuring that mechanization in Africa is:

  • Private-sector driven
  • Environmentally compatible
  • Economically viable for smallholder farmers.

What We Measure: The 3 Pillars of Sustainability

Commercial Sustainability

Monitoring the growth of hire service businesses, local manufacturing capacity, and innovative financing models (Elements 1-5).

Environmental Sustainability

Tracking the adoption of Conservation Agriculture (CA) and climate-smart land preparation technologies (Element 6).

Socio-Economic Sustainability

Measuring inclusivity—ensuring women, youth, and smallholders are active beneficiaries, not just bystanders (Elements 7-8).
